Aluminum Honeycomb Shell
The Falcon is made from aluminum honeycomb sheets (bottom sheet is reinforced with aluminum crossbars) and aluminum channels on all four sides. The accessory channels allow easy mounting of a variety of accessories. Each Roofnest is rated to support up to 650 lbs!
The wall material is a polyurethane-coated polyester and cotton blend with a waterproof rating of 3000mm (for comparison a typical waterproof rating on a backpacking tent is 1000mm). The fabric is much thicker and tougher than a typical backpacking tent – more like a heavy-duty wall tent. The material provides additional warmth and is quieter during a wind storm due to it’s weight.
Doors and Windows
All Roofnests have two mesh windows at the front and back with both canvas and mesh zip closures. On our rectangular tents (Sparrow, Sandpiper, and Eagle), there is a doorway with a mesh screen and zip closure on either side. The Sparrow EYE and Falcon have 3 doors. The canvas doorway(s) can be turned into a small shade awning with the included poles. All tents can be fully unzipped at each opening to allow entry from any side.
All Roofnests are shipped with a sturdy and lightweight 8.5′ telescoping ladder for access. The ladder is collapsable and can be attached to the edge of the Roofnest for additional safety if desired.
Every Roofnest comes with a built-in, custom-shaped 7 cm foam mattress. What a dream to sleep on! This is not your typical camping mattress, it feels like a real bed. If you’ve had difficulty sleeping while camping those problems are going to be a distant memory after a few nights in a Roofnest.

Highly recommend Roofnest
We are one week into a road trip with our new ROOFNEST and really loving it. Super easy setup and breakdown. The bed is very comfortable! Our sleep is so much better than a tent. We highly recommend The ROOFNEST and love it on our 4Runner. People come up and ask us daily how we like it.
Love the personal touch
We are from Michigan, and visiting friends in Colorado last year. Tim was good enough to invite us to see the Roofnest on his company van. that sold us! it arrived in perfect condition when we ordered or a couple months later. in addition, I’ve never seen a company more responsive to comments or concerns from owners and prospective customers on social media. highly recommend, and love ours!
Kudos to the Roofnest team
They have been super helpful as we were trying to decide which RTT company to go with and which model. We just got it today and it’s awesome!
My Roofnest can handle anything!
Hands down the most cherished piece of gear I own. Light, nimble, sturdy, and best of all it’s easy. It fits just as easily on my old Subaru Crosstrek as it does on my new Toyota Tacoma. I’ve put this thing through the ringer and it’s stood up to everything I’ve thrown at it. Camping on a frozen lake in the White Mountains of NH with a -35 degree wind chill, to hot muggy summer nights in the Shenandoah. Night after night this thing has proven itself. The guys at Roofnest have really created something in a league of it’s own.
Wind is no match for my Roofnest
Trip to OBX with the new Roofnest . Had a night with reported unsustained 70 mph gust . Very impressed with the performance of my tent.
Falcons in the Wild
The focus of the Falcon design is rugged durability and a sleek, aerodynamic design (hence the name). If you plan on off-roading through the deserts of Moab or blazing over bumpy mountain trails here in Colorado, you can rest assured this roof top tent can handle the ride.
Or if you’re more of a laid-back, tie-up-a-hammock-and-crack-open-a-cold-one kinda camper, the Falcon’s ready-to-tumble design means you can rely on it for endless weekend getaways.
The Falcon and Falcon XL keep the same low profile when closed, making them a great choice for efficient gas performance. Every penny you save on fuel is another you can spend on beers for the campsite, right?
