5 Must Have Winter Camping Accessories

While we’re writing this blog there is over a foot of snow on the ground and we don’t want camping season to be over. The good thing for all of us is that we have a Roofnest and with the right accessories, you can be just as cozy as a warm summer night... Even with snow falling.

2) Heated mattress pad

There is something special about crawling into a warm bed when its cold outside and getting nice and cozy. One thing thats even better is when you’re crawling into a warm bed on top of your car, in a beautiful spot, watching the snow fall around you. With a heated mattress pad, you can pre-warm your bed while you’re sitting out by the fire. Once the fire dies down and it starts to get a little too cold to be outside, you can rest assured that you’re going to want to get into your Roofnest and snuggle up. Obviously, to make this work you will need a power source for the blanket and that’s what leads us into number 2.

2) Goal Zero Yeti Battery

Let’s be honest, no one likes being uncomfortable out in the wilderness, that’s why we have Roofnests. To make your camping experience as comfortable as possible, sometimes you need power. With the Goal Zero Yeti battery, you can power up to 5 devices at once and it is compatible with solar panels as well. So whether you want to power up your iPad to watch a movie in your Roofnest or run your heated mattress pad all night you’re covered.

3) Roofnest Down Blanket

We have to give ourselves some credit here, we made a bad*ss blanket and it definitely makes winter camping better. Sometimes your favorite sleeping bag just doesn’t cover it, whether you want to have a nice blanket by the fire, need an extra layer in the tent, or want a little extra padding on your mattress, the Roofnest down blanket has you covered. Coming in at 7’ long and 6’ wide, filled with 750-fill powered down, this isn’t just any old blanket. Grab one of these and never worry about being cozy while camping again.

4) Jet Boil

When snow is falling and temperatures are low, you want to be sitting by the fire warming up and spending less time doing everything else. A classic camping stove can take a while to boil water, soup, anything that’s warm and nice for winter camping. With a Jet Boil, you can spend less time cooking and more time being cozy and eating around the fire. The Jet Boil Flash will boil water in 100 seconds and with its small portable design, you can cook anywhere. Even next to the fire….

5) Roofnest Ptarmigan Insulation

Lastly, one thing that we promise will keep you warm this winter is our Ptarmigan insulation. This insulation will fit the Eagle, Sparrow, and Sandpiper models and is a breeze to install. The insulation will take around 5-10 minutes to install but once it’s set up you can keep it set up as long as you’re careful to keep it tucked in when closing the tent.

So there you go flock. We know that most people will call it quits on camping for the year, but that's not what we’re about, we’re camping year-round! With the 5 things listed above, you’ll be sure to have a good time winter camping this year. Don’t forget to let us in on your adventures by tagging us on Instagram @roofnest and #roofnest. Happy adventuring flock!
