We can talk about how great Roofnest roof top tents are compared to our competitors all day. An incredibly slim profile, insanely quick and easy setup, durable, waterproof...the list goes on.
But what we like even better is to shut up and let our fans do the talking.
Why Edward Shin Gave Up His iKamper for a Roofnest Roof Top Tent
We recently reached out to outdoor enthusiast and YouTuber Edward Shin about testing out one of our Roofnest tent models. He opted for the Falcon XL and gave it a try.
As it turns out, Shin recently posted a video detailing all the reasons why he switched from his iKamper Skycamp 2.0 to a Roofnest Falcon XL for good.
Some of the highlights?
- The setup and breakdown of a Roofnest hard shell RTT is much faster than the iKamper. While Shin’s old iKamper tent was relatively quick to setup and breakdown, it needed another platform to unfold for larger floorspace. With a Roofnest Falcon XL, all that extra legroom is built in.
- When the Roofnest is already propped open, you can easily remove the ladder and keep the tent open if you want to move your rig slightly to make sure it’s level. In tents like the iKamper where the ladder is attached, trying to make this adjustment is a problem.
- The Roofnest awning is more versatile than the iKamper’s.
Last but definitely not least, since replacing his lower bed rack with a higher-clearance bed rack, Shin couldn’t park his rig in his own garage with is iKamper attached. Combined with his vehicle lift, Shin needed over 7 feet of clearance.
The Falcon XL is under 7 inches when collapsed. Now he can easily get in and out of his garage and still enjoy his dream rig setup.
