What's the best rooftop tent for Jeep Gladiator?

The Jeep Gladiator debuted just a few short years ago. But its impact on the outdoor, camping, and overlanding industries has been so strong that it’s hard to remember a time before the Gladiator. If you’ve ever driven one it’s easy to know why people love the Gladiator. That’s because, as essentially a pickup truck version of the beloved Wrangler, the Gladiator has a lot going for it. It’s not only incredibly capable thanks to its Jeep 4x4 system, it’s also been given a very well-appointed interior. This gives the Gladiator a great daily-driver appeal for those who want more than a rough-and-tumble off-roader. What’s more, it has that aforementioned pickup bed, which further enhances its utility-carrying capabilities.  All told, the Gladiator is a great choice for outdoorsy folks who want a truck that can go anywhere and look good doing it. What Roofnest rooftop tents best suit the Gladiator? There really are no wrong answers. But, for our money, it comes down to a handful of Roofnest tents. These, we wager, are the best roof top tents for Jeep Gladiator.

1. Condor Overland

The best roof top tent for Jeep Gladiator is Condor Overland

Condor Overland is boxy, rugged, comfortable, premium, and designed for overlanding, just like the Jeep Gladiator. Heck, you can even get the Gladiator in the Overland trim — how perfect is that? Condor Overland builds on the top-selling Condor fold-out tent and blends in some of the best features of the clamshell Falcon 2 tent. Specifically, Condor Over land has an aluminum top shell that has accessory channels integrated around the perimeter. Because of these accessory channels, Condor Overland comes standard with top-shell crossbars, which can carry extra gear — up to 100 pounds when the tent is closed and 40 pounds when it’s open. Ruggedness and utility are the name of the game with the Condor Overland, just like the Gladiator. With the Condor Overland mounted above the bed of your Gladiator, you’ll have tons of ways to carry all of your most-needed overlanding gear. While Condor Overland includes crossbars and accessory channels like those of the Falcon Pro, it has the compact fold-out design of the Condor. The Condor Overland folds down to just 60 inches long by 50 inches wide. Those dimensions make it perfect for the Gladiator’s 60-inch (5.0-foot) bed. That’s exactly the usable space of the Gladiator’s bed. If you have a rack to mount the Condor Overland above the Gladiator’s bed, the Condor Overland is just about a perfect fit for the Gladiator.

2. Condor

The second best rooftop tent for Jeep Gladiator is Condor

If you don’t need all-aluminum construction or the accessory-carrying capacity offered by the Condor Overland, we recommend you consider the standard Condor for your Gladiator. We recommend Condor because of its compact size when closed and its ability to expand into one of the roomiest tents we make in about a minute. Condor measures a meager 60 inches long, front to back, and 48 inches wide. Like Condor Overland, this is just about the dimensions of the Gladiator bed, which makes the Condor a great option for a Gladiator with a bed rack. The one caution we’ll give is that, if your Gladiator is lifted, the 12-inch tall Condor may cause some clearance issues in garages with low ceilings. Same goes for trails with low-hanging branches. Essentially, you’ll want to be vigilant about watching for clearance. Unlike the Condor Overland, Condor cannot easily absorb branch strikes. So, think carefully about how you’ll use your rig and what kinds of environments you’ll be camping in before you make your purchase.

3. Falcon Pro

The third best roof top tent for the Jeep Gladiator: Falcon Pro

Lastly, we come to the all-aluminum Falcon Pro. It’s Roofnest’s halo product. That’s because it combines all the best features of our other roof top tents in one premium design. Like your Gladiator, it’s been engineered to withstand the harshest conditions and keep a smile on your face mile after mile and year after year. Falcon Pro measures 83.5 inches long and 54 inches wide. This makes its footprint longer than the bed of your Gladiator. But don’t fret; there’s still space for a Falcon Pro above the Gladiator’s bed. How? Well, you’ll need a full-height bed rack — i.e. one that has its top crossbars at or above your Gladiator’s cab roof height. With the rack sitting above the Gladiator’s roofline, you’ll be able to push the Falcon Pro to sit slightly over the back of the Gladiator’s cab — by about a foot or so. Certainly, this setup isn’t as slick as a Condor Overland, which sits perfectly over the Gladiator’s bed. However, the Falcon Pro is slimmer than Condor Overland. That means clearance will be a bit better. Falcon Pro is just 8.0 inches tall when closed (not including crossbars). This makes it the slimmest tent on this list and one you’ll need to worry least about causing height clearance issues. Falcon Pro’s top shell is shaped from a single piece aircraft-grade aluminum, making it both incredibly strong as well as waterproof — there are no seams for water to sneak in at. The top shell has an accessory channel to which we mount the standard crossbars. This enables the tent to carry 75 pounds of gear when open and 150 pounds when closed. Despite its slim profile, Falcon Pro boasts a three-inch memory foam mattress (ours is true memory foam, unlike the competition). This makes the Falcon Pro as comfortable a place to sleep as your Gladiator is to drive off-road. Regardless of which Roofest you choose for your trail-conquering Gladiator, we know you’ll be happy with your choice.
